The Labour Party is Institutionally Treacherous

The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies.

Recent revelations have shown what many members and supporters of the Labour Party have always known, We did not just lose a general election, we were betrayed by saboteurs, Lords, MP’s and Staffers.

“The Labour Party is institutionally treacherous”.

These people have destroyed the hopes, dreams and aspirations of millions of socialists. They have not only squandered away the best hope the Left had in changing society from this fixed system. They removed a chance to end Austerity, to change the misery imposed on universal credit sufferers or reverse the growth of poverty, food banks and zero hours contracts.

They stopped a manifesto of hope from becoming a reality.

Labour not only lost the general election in 2017 through the democratic argument but because the Party itself betrayed the members, supporters and the people.

Treachery is a word never used lightly, it is a terrible word, and its meaning conjures sinister shadows within the human psyche. Treason is more than a breaking of trust, it is a violation of a presumptive contract, the betrayal produces moral and psychological conflict within a personal relationship and a catastrophic breakdown between citizens and the politicians they have placed their trust in.

“The relationship between the Labour Party and its members has been corrupted, it is tainted and tarnished and will never be restored.”

This treachery was not just a small rogue department of staffers who disliked Jeremy Corbyn. This started with MP’s that carried out a coup to remove the then Party leader. After that failed coup and overwhelming membership backing, they then continued plotting to undermine Jeremy Corbyn at every turn.

These MPs that carried out that coup lead the way. The treachery shown in the labour leaks didn’t just happen it started with the 2016 coup. The assault on the leadership acted as an example and a catalyst for further descent, that original coup included the now Party leader Sir Keir Starmer, go figure…

The leaked Labour Anti-Semitism report describes just such a betrayal. The 851-page report cites a vast amount of primary source material. It is utterly damning. Abusive insults. Claiming the membership is mentally ill. Hyper factionalism, conspiracy. Dirty tricks and factional politicking doesn’t cover this. It’s an absolute and total betrayal of every decent quality and every value the Labour movement stands for.

Jamie Driscoll, North of Tyne Mayor writes: “The deliberate derailing of disciplinary cases of racism and Antisemitism to undermine the Party and its leader. Senior Labour Party staff actively working to lose the 2017 General Election. The People deserve better

The Labour Party have always particularly loathed traitors, the working class look upon traitors within its ranks with disdain. Traitors have come in many forms, from the scabs of the miner’s strike to those right-wingers who used Brexit as an excuse to undermine Corbyn and the Labour Party. MP’s like Chuka Umunna and the change UK traitors.

The deliberate derailing of disciplinary cases of racism and Anti-Semitism to undermine the Party and its leader. Senior Labour Party staff actively working to lose the 2017 General Election. Let that sink in.

The report details the people who were paid to run the Party deliberately sabotaging our election campaign.

They put the Tories into power. They didn’t just betray the Labour membership. Every council worker whose job has been cut, every Universal Credit claimant waiting weeks for money, every person struggling to pay their bills in the gig economy. They betrayed them all. And blamed it on Jeremy Corbyn and the wider party membership.

We don’t need an inquiry into why the report was published, or how it found its way into the public. The case has been made in its quarter of million words. The accusations need answering. All those who stand accused must be brought up on charges.

They betrayed not just the Party but the people.

They should get a fair hearing, with representation. But we must know the truth. Those who are found to have betrayed their comrades, their employer and their movement must face expulsion.”

The same can be said of the staff who work for the Party. Those mentioned in the leaked document outlining the undermining of Jeremy Corbyn and plotting to throw the general election. These staffers in the Labour Party’s Governance and Legal Unit are just one rotten apple of a barrel full.

The Party’s anthem seems like empty words in reflection of its recent history, words that speak vividly of those that commit treachery. – The line in ‘The Red Flag’ goes “Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer” is always sung the clearest, it is emphasised as a warning to all who would carry out such betrayal but since MPs have set an example those worlds now fall on empty ears.

Corbyn’s mistake throughout his tenure was to be magnanimous in victory, and in being so he brought about his own defeat.

Corbyn should have been unforgiving after the coup. If the Tories could teach Labour a lesson it would be in the way they treated the MPs that betray them. Johnson expelled 21 MPs from the parliamentary Conservative Party after they rebelled against him in a bid to prevent a no-deal Brexit. Without the backing of the Party, they returned to political insignificant.

Labour pacifies and promotes those that do the most damage.

These acts of sabotage and betrayal are not only carried out by one small section of the Party’s machine. That rogue section of the Labour Party’s Governance and Legal Unit.

The undermining, plotting and scheming extended to every level of the Party including MPs and Lords.

The peers were supposedly honoured for their merits and good works, who instead chose to manipulate circumstances and influence outcomes to undermine the Party leader, his allies and supporters.

This betrayal of the leadership and the people did not just happen because some small dissatisfied elements within the Party machine didn’t like Jeremy Corbyn and Left-wing politics. It was directed and planned and encouraged. This treachery, this undermining of the Party by these quislings run deep, even down to minions on social media forums.

Marxist playwright and poet, Bertolt Brecht, a shrewd political observer was once quoted in reference saying:

Some party hack decreed that the people had lost the government’s confidence and could only regain it with redoubled effort. If that is the case, would it not be simpler, If the government simply dissolved the people and elected another? ―

Bertolt Brecht

The Labour Party found it far simpler, they just discredited the Leader, throw an election then replace the Leader and in doing so gained another people, that of the Blairites, the centrist who had always stood in the wings waiting for the coup to be complete.

There is no doubt the Labour Party’s eternal war has brought the Party crashing down. It has used everything within its power to alienate and discredit its own Left-wing politicians, counsellors and members.

Just like every coup and regime change, the old will be removed, soon the purges will begin, Left-wingers and socialists removed while the Labour Party rebrands to a centrist pit of neoliberalism.

In this one document “The work of the Labour Party’s Governance and Legal Unit in relation to antisemitism, 2014 – 2019” we see the dreams of millions of good honest people destroyed by a Party that is now institutionally treacherous.

This treachery is the work of many, not just Lord McNicol, Tom Watson is mentioned in the report 31 times. Labour Party funds were diverted to Watson’s constancy to ensure his election. The plan was for Watson to take over as temporary leader in another coup conducted against Jeremy Corbyn. The staffers were disappointed Corbyn did so well it made that attempt unachievable.

Peter Mandelson, the architect of New Labour and the people’s vote
has said he is working every day to undermine Jeremy Corbyn.

Tony Benn stated: “If the Labour Party could be bullied or persuaded to denounce its Marxist, the media -having tasted Blood- would demand next that it expelled all its Socialist and reunited the remaining Labour Party with the SDP to form a harmless alternative to the Conservatives, which could then be allowed to take office now and then when the Conservatives fell out of favour with the public.

Thus British Capitalism, it is argued, will be made safe forever, and socialism would be squeezed off the National agenda.

But if such a strategy were to succeed… it would in fact profoundly endanger British society. For it would open up the danger of a swing to the far-right, as we have seen in Europe over the last 50 years.” -Tony Benn

Another great socialist Nye Bevan also declared: “The Right Wing of the Labour Party would rather see it fall into perpetual decline rather than abide by its democratic decisions” -Nye Bevan

“The establishment remains unfazed.”

With Sir Keir Starmer Leader of the opposition, the coup is complete. The threat to the establishment is neutralised the status quo continues.

“This report completely blows open everything that went on”

“We were being sabotaged and set up left right and centre by McNicol’s team and we didn’t even know. It’s so important that the truth comes out”, the source added.

The report claims private communications show senior former staff “openly worked against the aims and objectives of the leadership of the Party, and in the 2017 general election some key staff even appeared to work against the Party’s core objective of winning elections”.

The report says the WhatsApp communications in question, which included some of the most senior figures in the party headquarters and Lord McNicol’s office, were leaked by one of the group’s members.

The examples from chat archives published in the document include:

  • Conversations in 2017 appear to show senior staff preparing for Tom Watson to become interim leader in anticipation of Jeremy Corbyn losing the election
  • Conversations which it is claimed show senior staff hid information from the leader’s office about digital spending and contact details for MPs and candidates during the election
  • Conversations on election night in which the members of the group talk about the need to hide their disappointment that Mr Corbyn had done better than expected and would be unlikely to resign
  • A discussion about whether the grassroots activist network Momentum could be ‘proscribed’ for being a ‘party within a party’
  • A discussion about ‘unsuspending’ a former Labour MP who was critical of Jeremy Corbyn so they could stand as a candidate in the 2017 election
  • A discussion about how to prevent Corbyn-ally Rebecca Long-Bailey gaining a seat on the party’s governing body in 2017
  • Regular references to Corbyn-supporting party staff as “trots”
  • Conversations between senior staff in Lord McNicol’s office in which they refer to former director of communications Seamus Milnes as “Dracula”, and saying he was “spiteful and evil and we should make sure he is never allowed in our Party if it’s last thing we do”
  • Conversations in which the same group refers to Mr Corbyn’s former chief of staff Karie Murphy as “medusa”, a “crazy woman” and a “bitch face cow” that would “make a good dartboard”
  • A discussion in which one of the group members expresses their “hope” that a young pro-Corbyn Labour activist, who they acknowledge had mental health problems, “dies in a fire”

The investigation also accuses the former General Secretary Lord McNicol, and other senior figures of providing “false and misleading information” to Jeremy Corbyn’s office in relation to the handling of antisemitism complaints, which the report claims meant “the scale of the problem was not appreciated” by the leadership.

The report claims McNicol and staff in the Governance and Legal Unit “provided timetables for the resolution of cases that were never met; falsely claimed to have processed all antisemitism complaints; falsely claimed that most complaints received were not about Labour members and provided highly inaccurate statistics of antisemitism complaints”.

Responding to the messages cited and the allegations made against him in the report, Lord McNicol said:” The energy and effort that must have been invested in trawling 10,000 emails rather than challenging antisemitism in the party is deeply troubling.

The irony of Lord McNicol’s statement is that hundreds of thousands of social media posts and comments made by Labour members were trawled to produce evidence real and fake in the attempt to comply with antisemitism allegations. That must have taken a real mammoth effort by the Labour governance team.
