Zelensky’s Davos Ultimatum: A “New World Order” Built on Endless War, Not Diplomacy
In a chilling address to the World Economic Forum (WEF), Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stripped away the veneer of “defence” to reveal the true objective of the current conflict: the dismantling of the current international framework in favour of a militarised “New World Order.”
For those of us watching the UK and EU leadership march in lockstep with endless escalation, Zelensky’s words confirm our worst fears. This is no longer about sovereignty; it is about a fundamental reshaping of global geopolitics, where diplomacy is abandoned in favour of “action” on the battlefield.
The Mask Slips: “Replace the Old World Order”
The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.”
― Antonio Gramsci

While the mainstream media portrays the conflict as a struggle for democracy, the transcript of Zelensky’s speech reveals a far more ambitious and dangerous goal. Addressing the Davos elites, he explicitly stated:
“We need something to replace the old world order with.”
This is not the language of a leader seeking a ceasefire or a return to the status quo. It is the language of regime change on a global scale. By calling to “replace” the existing order, Zelensky aligns with the most hawkish elements of the NATO alliance who view this war not as a tragedy to be ended, but as an opportunity to be exploited.
Rejecting Peace (“Words”) for Total War (“Action”)
Most disturbing is Zelensky’s dismissal of diplomatic efforts. In a direct rejection of negotiation, the only viable path to peace, he declared:
“You can’t build a new world order out of words.”
In the context of the current geopolitical climate, “words” mean diplomacy. “Words” mean peace talks, compromises, and de-escalation. By ridiculing them, Zelensky is signalling that the “New World Order” he envisions has no place for dialogue. Instead, he demands total military commitment:
“Act now on land, in the air, at the sea, to build a new global order.”
This is a call for total war. It is a demand that European and UK leaders, who are already eager to funnel billions into the military-industrial complex, abandon all restraint. It asks them to ignore the economic devastation facing their own working classes and instead commit fully to a conflict “on land, in the air, at the sea.”
Captured by the War Machine
Zelensky’s frustration that there is no “line of leaders who are ready to act” rings hollow to anyone paying attention in Britain. Our political class, both Tory and Labour leadership, have shown they are all too ready to act, provided the action involves buying weapons and rejecting peace.
The UK and EU have become captive markets for the industrial arms complex. Every refusal to negotiate, every mockery of peace proposals, and now this open call for a “New World Order” serves only one beneficiary: the arms manufacturers.
Zelensky is right about one thing: the old order is failing. But replacing it with a “New World Order” built on perpetual conflict, where “words” are despised, and military action is the only currency, is a future the working class must reject.
We do not need a new global order built on the ashes of Europe. We need leaders brave enough to use “words” again.
