Fourth man arrested at Stansted Airport over fires at properties linked to Keir Starmer

A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with a string of suspected arson attacks targeting properties associated with Sir Keir Starmer.

The 48-year-old man was detained at Stansted Airport on Monday by Met Police officers on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life.

The arrest follows a series of incidents earlier in May, including a car fire on 8 May, a blaze at a converted house in Islington on 11 May, and two further fires in Kentish Town on 12 May.

Three young men, all Ukrainian nationals or Ukrainian-born have now been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

  • Roman Lavrynovych, 21, aspiring model.
  • Stanislav Carpiuc, 26, Ukrainian-born Romanian national, also an aspiring model.
  • Petro Pochynok, 34, fashion entrepreneur.

All charged in connection with multiple fires at properties linked to Starmer, including his former home and a car he previously owned.

Lavrynovych faces three counts of arson with intent to endanger life, while Carpiuc and Pochynok are charged with conspiracy.

Starmer condemns fires as ‘attack on democracy’

Starmer previously told MPs that the attacks represent β€œan attack on all of us, on democracy and the values we stand for.”

But for many observers, this feels less like a broad assault on democracy and more like something intensely personal.
