Today after the Labour Party NEC panel failed to lift Chris Williamson’s suspension which would have allowed him to continue as the Labour Party candidate for Derby North in the coming general election.

Mr Williamson made a statement in which he resigned from the Labour Party. In his resignation letter Chris Williamson continued to proclaim his support and solidarity for the hundreds of socialist loyal to Jeremy Corbyn and his transformative socialist anti-imperialist worldview who have been the victims of what as been described as a witch hunt within the Labour Party.

Chris Williamson stated that many members that had been expelled had in actual fact been Jewish socialist whose anti-Zionism is anathema to the apartheid apologist apparently influencing Labour party domestic policy.

Chris will now be standing as an independent candidate for Derby North he will continue to support his constituents while working to bring about the changes needed to fight for social change and against the Austerity, and the injustices from a cruel Tory government.

Chris Williamson as been an extremely popular Labour Party MP and has garnered huge support not only from his own constituency of Derby North but across the country following his relentless campaign for democracy and social change.

Chris stated:

After almost 44 years of loyal service and commitment, it’s with a heavy heart that I’m resigning from the Labour Party.

I’ll be standing as an independent candidate for Derby North to fight for social justice, internationalism and socialist values.

Solidarity and support for @DerbyChrisW a real advocate for socialist change. We need more signposts, not Weathercocks.
